For a while now I collect applications who served me well over the years and I would recommend to everybody out there.
If you have a Synology I recommend to use the Active Backup for Business Plugin (https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm/feature/active_backup_business) it is well suited for your needs.
But if you are on your own with local storage or a NAS not from Synology I highly recommand the Veeam Backup Agent for Windows/Linux, these are rock solid for me since I began to use them three years ago.
I still want to check on UrBackup but never got it stable and this is what a backup solution has to be, stable!
- Synology Active Backup for Business (Agents)
- Veeam Backup Agent for Windows/Linux (Agents, Backup Server is optional - Windows Only, therefore "Shared Folder" for NAS is best use)
While most people know SnagIt for Windows I would recommend Greenshot (https://getgreenshot.org/) It does it all for you, the UI is dated but it works well and costs nothing.
If you are on Linux however this is another Game, some may prefer Shutter but I would recommend Flameshot, Shutter is so huge of a package to install, my solus-box took 30min! to compile this sucker!.
- Greenshot (Windows)
- Flameshot (Linux)
- Shutter (Linux)
Screen Capture Software
Everybody uses OBS these days, but what IF you damn Graphics Card suck at working with OBS screencapture ?
Then you use CamStudio with CamStudio Lossless Codec (https://camstudio.org/)
OBS on Linux is fine.
HandBrake (https://handbrake.fr/) PERIOD!!!!!
This list is going to be extended as I collect more software recommendations.
